God Moments in my Life

 God Moments in My Life

I am no one special....I sin like everyone else and make huge mistakes. I often trip and fall, literally, which is why my husband often calls me "Calamity Jane"....so I'm no one special except that my heart belongs to God...He claimed me as his own.

T
oday I had a God moment. I was in BiLo shopping for groceries planning meals for my husband when he returns home tomorrow. I passed an elderly couple, in their 80s. The husband was looking for applesauce so I responded by telling them it was two aisles down and laughed about how everything is a scavenger hunt when you grocery shop because items are in different rows in different stores. And he replied, "And I hate grocery shopping!" We all laughed.

A few aisles later I turned to go to the next aisle and there on the floor was the elderly man! He obviously had fallen and was crying out for his wife. I grabbed a lady and asked her to stay with him and I ran to get a store employee or manager. Three ladies followed me and his wife had just arrived. I feared from the way he was rubbing his right side, that his hip might be broken or at least fractured. He was in pain. The staff called 911 and I tried to calm him by asking him to lie still. His wife and I put her purse under his head so he could relax and stop trying to move. Once he was secured, I went on finishing my shopping and checked back as the emergency crew arrived in an ambulance. The wife explained to me that he was legally blind, deaf and diabetic. She was frightened, too, but wanted to buy the items in their basket and follow the ambulance. I told one of the EMTs that he was deaf, diabetic and legally blind and he thanked me.

Once he was secured and on the gurney, I checked out my own groceries and began my ride home. That is when I realized I had a God Moment. God simply used me to calm the elderly man, comfort his wife and share information with the EMT. God needed me...and I simply did what my mind and heart were leading me to do. I didn't question my thoughts....I felt certain my actions were helping in some way. A God Moment.

I feel so blessed today...and I know, beyond any doubt, that when you trust in God, there will be moments when you can serve and do what is good and right. I thank God for using me today.

It was a privilege because I am nothing special...I am a sinner....and a Calamity Jane...but God said...I need you today.

10 Encouraging Bible Verses About Helping Others
1 John 3:17- Love of God
But whoever has the world's goods, and beholds his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
Proverbs 22:9 -Being Generous
He who is generous will be blessed, For he gives some of his food to the poor
Hebrews 6:10 - For God
For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints.
Philippians 2:4 - Look out for Others Interests
do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
Luke 6:38 - Rewards for Giving
"Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, they will pour into your lap. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return."
John 15:12 - More about Love
"This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
Matthew 25:35-40 - Words of Jesus Christ
'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You drink? 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 'And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'
Matthew 5:13-16 - More words from Jesus
"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. "Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the peck-measure, but on the lampstand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Hebrews 13:16 - Doing Good and Sharing
And do not neglect doing good and sharing; for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Galatians 6:2 - Help with Burdens of others
Bear one another's burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ.
I pray that God spoke to your heart through these scripture verses about helping others. I encourage you to look up any of the Bible Verses about to read the context in which they were used to get a better understanding of God's word.

 Dear Heavenly Father,

I am filled with gratitude and amazement this morning as I realized that even in a simple, daily task like buying groceries (which by the way, is not one of my favorites) You can turn the moment into an opportunity to truly help a stranger.  We have to be open and willing.  Our minds and spirit have to be in tuned with that still small voice that calls us to lend a hand.  I am filled with joy in having this new peace of knowing I helped a stranger who needed me.  It has happened to me on so many occasion when others have stepped in and helped me in a time of need and I was humbled by their kindness.  But today, Lord, you used me and I thank you,

In Jesus' Name,
Amen
